Paloma McGregor
New York, NY // Practicing since 2010
Paloma McGregor is a Caribbean-born, New York-based choreographer and arts leader who has taught and facilitated Critical Response Process for the New York City Department of Education, Alternate Roots and Yale University’s School of Drama. A former newspaper editor, Paloma has been particularly interested in exploring CRP’s Step 3 – the “neutral question” – and the ways it invites each of us to become more honest about how our power and history affect our preferences. McGregor has spent more than a decade centering Black voices through collaborative, “community-specific” performance projects as Artistic Director of Angela’s Pulse and founder of Dancing While Black. CRP is a tool she relishes bringing with her to intergenerational community settings, university dance workshops, and post-performance discussions; she’s still working on using it at home.
Areas of interest:
- community-engaged projects
- intergenerational settings
