Al Evangelista (he/siya) is a performer, choreographer, and teacher. His artistic and scholarly work leans on the intersections of dance, culture, and society, particularly in expressing queer, community-based, and Filipinx-American narratives. A passionate advocate for interdisciplinary collaboration, he has loved CRP since first encountering it while working at Dance Exchange in 2017. Al has performed nationally and internationally, including work at the Movement Research at Judson Church, National Center for Choreography at The University of Akron, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, American Theatre Company, Links Hall, Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts, Dance Place, slippage lab at Northwestern University, and the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art.
