Misti Galvan (she/her) is a dance artist, educator, and somatic practitioner based in San Marcos, Texas. A certified facilitator of Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process®, she brings CRP into dance technique classrooms, improvisational practice, and collaborative research. Her current work explores what happens when Contact Improvisation partners are given structured tools and permission to speak about touch—and what that reveals about voice, power, and embodied culture. She teaches dance at Austin Community College and Texas State University, where she is also a doctoral candidate in Adult, Professional, and Community Education. Misti is a cancer survivor and a contributing author to a forthcoming Routledge book on dancers’ experiences with cancer. She has presented her work at the National Dance Education Organization conference, the Texas Dance Improvisation Festival, and the Asheville Fringe Festival. She holds an MFA in Choreography, a BFA in Dance, and a BA in English.
